Man falsely detained while jogging was later offered a job with the sheriff's department

Video shows a black jogger being detained after matching the description of a suspect in a nearby burglary.

Joseph Griffin,28 went for a jog on Aug. 27 when he was stopped by officers near Normandy Boulevard, the deputy who stopped him told Griffin that he fits the description of someone who was seen stealing a leaf blower in the backyard of a nearby house.

Deputies said the suspect they were searching for was also wearing a white tank top, black shorts and they said that the suspect also had a beard.

Griffin who was cleared, told CNN that he has since been invited by the sheriff to help with bias training.

“It’s a big opportunity that I think could help change the relationship between policing and the community, on both sides”.
