A St. Louis veteran cop who was told to tone down his “gayness” in order to get a promotion was awarded almost $20 million.

Sgt. Keith Wildhaber sued the county in 2017 for unlawful employment discrimination and retaliation.

Wildhabar said he was passed over 23 times for a promotion at the St. Louis County Police Department and then punished with a transfer when he complained.

Captain, Guy Means, privately called him “fruity” and told a friend that the officer was “way too out there with his gayness and he needed to tone it down” to get a promotion, the jury heard,

He was awarded $1.9 million in actual damages and $10 million in punitive damages on his discrimination allegation, plus $999,000 in actual damages and $7 million in punitive damages for his retaliation claim.
