A South Carolina father who mistook his grown daughter for an intruder and fatally shot her was arrested on drug charges by deputies investigating the incident, authorities said.
Jermaine Pressley, 43, was charged with one count of heroin possession with intent to distribute and one count of cocaine possession with intent to distribute, according to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators found the drugs as they searched the Young Street home, where Nadeja Pressley was shot to death at about 1 a.m. Sunday as she attempted to enter the house she shared with her father, authorities said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jermaine Pressley was denied bail Sunday. He has a prior conviction for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, according to his arrest warrant, the Greenville News reported Monday.
He has not been charged in his daughter’s death, which is under investigation. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.
