Caught on video.. An Elyria man was arrested after a Ohio State Highway trooper said he was assaulted around 7 a.m. Thursday by a man walking in the roadway.
The trooper was called to Diagonal Road near Biggs Road just outside of LaGrange for a man walking in the middle of a roadway.
The man, identified as Cornelious L. Carey, Jr 44, was confrontational and hit the trooper in the face, the patrol said. According to Elyria Municipal Court documents, Cornelious bit off part of the trooper’s ear.
The struggle continued for several minutes until more officers arrived.
Carey, 44, of Elyria, was charged with felonious assault and taken to the Lorain County Jail.
The trooper was taken to a hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries. He will require surgery.
