Three Texas Cops Shot During 16-Hour Standoff, Gunman Goes Live On Facebook

A 16 hour standoff has ended on Monday between police and a 26-year-old gunman who held his mother, brother and sister hostage in a suburb of Austin, Texas.

Three police officers were shot inside the home while responding to a 911 call about a domestic disturbance.

The standoff that started on Sunday finally ended after two hostages were released on Monday morning before the suspect and the last hostage exited the home peacefully.

The altercation started around 3 p.m. on Sunday when 26-year-old Joseph DeSean Taylor kicked down the door of his mother’s home and was “acting very aggressive”.

When officers responded they were met with gunfire ringing from inside of the house.

At least 50 bullets were fired during the incident, according to police.

Following the shooting, the suspect barricaded himself inside the home with his mother and a juvenile, Harmon said. The age of the third family member remains unknown.

Taylor, 26 was arrested without incident just before 9am Monday as he walked out from 2304 Natalie Cove with his mother, his final hostage, to surrender to law enforcement.

Footage shows Taylor going on Facebook Live for a hour. During the stream, one of Taylor’s sisters is heard pleading with him on the phone to go outside and get in an ambulance because he was bleeding.
